Piano Ukulele
Learn to play a guitar or Ukulele?
I'm planning on learning either guitar or ukulele, i already play the piano and want to try one of these instruments but i don't know which one to choose? Which is easier to learn? Would be the better buy?

Guitar or ukulele.
Well, I play both and there are some things that are similar and things that are different.
There are several sizes of ukulele. The one that you usually see is a soprano and these can cost £15, but I would suggest that If you really want to play well you should be spending a lot More Than this. Slightly larger is the concert sized ukulele, then the Tenor Ukulele and finally the baritone ukulele. The baritone is usually tuned to the same notes as the top 4 strings of a guitar and offers a deeper, richer tone than the others with the addition of a bit of sustain. I usually play baritone ukulele either in the regular chicago tuning or soprano tuning.
The other ukuleles are bright but offer little sustain. Re-entrant tuning is traditionally used on the smaller ukuleles. This means that the 'bottom' string has a higher note than all the others except the top string. Strings that allow a more traditional guitar like tuning are available.
The ukulele is easy to play and there are a huge quantity of websites on the internet to get you started and then help you progress.
Since starting to play the ukulele over a year ago and joining a ukulele orchestra that regularly plays gigs I have only played guitar at jam sessions and the like as I really prefer the ukulele.
Guitars have 6 string whilst the ukulele has 4. This means that the guitar is a tad harder to learn but offers a deeper tone, lots of sustain (depending on the instrument) and a bit more volume.
Any tune played on guitar can be played on the ukulele.
