Percussionists that dont play drumset/play something else w/ drumset!?
I was wondering how many of you guys play percussion besides the drumset. I play alot of jazz on the drumset, but I also play the flute and the djembe. The djembe is a ton of fun and I highly reccomend it!
Are there any other percussionists that play other stuff besides the Drum Set? (congos, bongos, djembe, anything?)
I guess my name really explains it all. I'm a mallet percussionist. I play the marimba, xylophone, bells, vibraphone, chimes, and pretty much everything in this category.
I've been playing mallets for 6 years and I'm starting to play with a 4-mallet grip. I'm also trying to see if there is a 6-mallet grip.
If you're looking for another instrument to play or just want to fool around on it, I would try mallets. One thing, you already know Treble Clef and rudiments. You're pretty much set on this prospect.
