How can I fix this problem with the input of my Marshall amplifier?
Hi, I have a Marshall VS65R Combo Amp and it has a problem with the input. When I plug it in and start to turn the volume up just a little bit, it makes a very loud continuous noise. If I apply some pressure to the plug on the left side, the noise stops and I can hear a clear guitar signal with all eq and volume knobs working properly. If anybody can help me out with some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I would want to know what is technically wrong with it and if I need replace or repair a certain part of the input. Thank you.
first of all I'm assuming that you tried a different cord with the same results. It sounds to me like the cable was yanked, stepped on, tripped over, or some other unfortunate mis-hap which caused the plug to bend or break the contacts of your Input Jack. If the amp is under warranty than take it (or send it) back to where you got it , failure to do so will More Than likely void your warrantee. if it is no longer covered than you can try spraying some tuner cleaner in the jack (un-plug amp!)to see if that helps if not than you will need to repair or replace the input jack wich is pretty easy to do (are you handy with a soldering iron?) e mail me 4 instructions
